Join us for the Roundhay Hedgerow Planting - 25 January, 1 and 28 February
REAP are looking for volunteers to help us plant our new Roundhay Hedgerow and Orchard!
REAP have been successful in securing funding from the Tree Council funded by Network Rail for our Roundhay Hedgerow. The hedgerow will be planted around the Roundhay Allotment boundary located on Old Park Road and Lidgett Park Lane, adjacent to Soldier’s Field and the tennis courts.
REAP have 3,000 hedgerow trees to plant as part of this project. We will also have a lovely new orchard to plant as well with 50 fruit trees with apples, pears, quince, plums, greengages and medlars.
Leeds City Council have allowed us to develop a wildflower strip along the Soldier’s Field side. We are working closely with the Arium and Fruitworks to supply our hedging and fruit trees.
We will be running the planting sessions split over two weekend with around 1500 trees to plant at each one so we would welcome you to join us for our planting sessions if possible.
Hedgerow planting dates:
Sunday 25th January 2026 11.30
Sunday 1st February 2026 11.30
Orchard planting date:
Saturday 28th February 2026 13.00
Meeting location: Meet at the corner of the allotment hedge on Old Park Road and Soldier’s Field for planting.
Please wear sturdy shoes as the ground will be uneven, a cup (for welcome teas and coffees), bring a spade and gloves with you. Cake and biscuits are also very welcome! Planting will go ahead, even if it is a bit wet.
If you are interested in helping to plant our new Roundhay Hedgerow, please drop REAP an email info@reap-leeds.org.uk and we will send an email with details as to the date and time. Otherwise, please see our REAP News webpage (REAP Roundhay Environmental Action Project Leeds) and Facebook pages to confirm the date and bring a spade.
All are welcome to come and plant trees, young or old. Help REAP plant our future.
